KPE offers professional investigative engineering/architectural services to provide reliable, cost-effective solutions. Our Professional Engineers (PEs) are licensed in Mechanical/Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, and Civil Engineering. We provide expertise in structural deficiencies, HVAC, electrical arc flash, geo-exchange systems, and fire investigations.
We also employ registered Architects who are Built Environment experts. These professionals understand building envelope integrity and air/water infiltration challenges; as well as issues involving design errors and omissions, construction defects, and product liability concerns.
KPE professionals are often asked to deliver expert witness testimony, trial depositions, technical analysis and simulations for litigation. We offer “One Source” investigations, quick turnaround and reasonable fees to clients across the Great Plains.
KPE facility experts use the lessons learned from investigating construction defects and design errors of others to maximize the quality of KPE facility designs. These assignments serve as a continuous stream of knowledge and lessons learned, allowing KPE staff to avoid similar pitfalls on current designs.

We use our extensive design experience to investigate and provide innovative solutions to difficult and challenging circumstances. For example, our diverse structural engineering experience lead us to uncover the root cause and point of origin of a collapse of a large facility under construction as shown.
As another example, our vast mechanical engineering experience allowed us to quickly solve a fire investigation by immediately following the burn patterns to the dryer motor which was the obvious cause and point of origin as shown below. Often in these types of cases, the client will ask KPE to secure the evidence and store it in our secured storage area.
Our impressive forensic engineering experience is reflected in the diversity our investigative engineering cases. For example, KPE recently accepted investigative assignments within 24 hours for: a structural roof failure onto a car; a dishwasher failure which flooded a house; and a sprinkler malfunction which resulted in serious water damage to the facility.
KPE provides prompt delivery of forensic engineering and investigative lab services to our customers. We can now access remarkable investigative insight and lab findings. KPE uses non-destructive testing methods and semi-destructive testing procedures to provide insight and answers that human eyes cannot detect. Our ability to offer lab services and quickly respond can minimize lost production time, which is especially beneficial to industrial clients and other time-sensitive endeavors — or large loss claims.
